Production
of diisopropyl ether through propene hydration
R
& D Background
¡¡¡¡Diisopropyl
ether (DIPE) is an excellent solvent for animal, vegetable
and mineral oils. It¡¯s a better solvent for extraction
than acetone and ether and widely used in dewaxing of
paraffin-based oil products. Besides, diisopropyl ether
are used as solvent in medicine, powder and paint
cleaning.
¡¡¡¡DIPE¡¯s
is an promising gasoline blending component for the fact
that its octane index (£¨MON£«RON£©£¯2
) is 105.
¡¡¡¡FRIPP
started its development of producing DIPE through propene
hydration in 1993.Under certain operating conditions, the
conversion of propene is 48.9% and the selectivity to DIPE
is 85.5%¡£
