  • DEVELOPMENT IN WAX HYDROFINING TECHNOLOGY

    Abstract ¡¡Fushun Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemicals (FRIPP) has developed technology and appropriate catalysts for medium-pressure wax hydrofining. The catalysts have been commercialized in 11 wax hydrofining units with a total annual processing capacity of over 900 thousand tons, dominating over 80% of the domestic market. The technology with appropriate catalysts shows good quality of refined waxes, high product yield, flexible operation and almost no pollution by waste gases, waste solid-liquid materials. The commercial results show that the newly developed Catalyst FV-1 has higher hydrofining activity, better stability and mechanic strength than those of Catalyst 481-2B. Catalyst 481-2B has been now widely used by refiners. FV-1 is the first one to be applied in the process at low temperature, medium pressure, high velocity and low hydrogen-wax ratio in China.

  • STUDY ON HYDROFINING TECHNOLOGY FOR PRODUCING HIGH-MELTING POINT PARAFFIN WAXES

    Abstract ¡¡Hydrofining of paraffin waxes is a deep refining process under moderate reaction temperature for treating wax feeds with high-melting point and inferior quality. This technology is based on two reactors in series, one is for de-coloring and the other for aromatics saturating. Through optimizing the operating conditions of the catalysts, high quality wax products can be obtained which can meet the special requirements of food, medical, and cosmetics production. The combination of the feed pre-treatment and refining process may cut down the excessive demands for wax hydrofining, and allow to have flexible processing according to the properties of feeds.

  • DEVELOPMENT OF SPECIALTY WAXES FOR PRUDUCTION OF INDUSTRIAL EXPLOSIVES

    Abstrct ¡¡This paper descusses the performance of MF series specialty waxes for emulsion explosives, DT type of specialty waxes for low TNT powder explosive and FR type of specialty waxes for powder emulsion explosive. These specialty waxes were produced by using waxes obtained from heavy fractions of petroleum as raw material. The performance tests were excellent and reached the international advanced standards. The explosives produced using these waxes showed faster speed of explosion and longer storage period. The perfromance met the National Standards and Standards of the Minister.

  • PRODUCTION OF HIGH QUALITY LUBRICANT BASE AND FOOD GRADE PARAFFIN WAX FROM HYDROCRACKER TAIL OIL

    Abstract¡¡ In this paper, a new technique for producing lubricant base and food grade paraffin wax using hydrocracker tail oil as feedstock is presented. The process includes three continuous steps: cutting of feed, dewaxing and deoiling of the wax by solvents, and additional treatment by clay. Hydrocracker tail oil could be fully used by this process and its products meet the specifications of HVI lubricant base and food grade paraffin wax.

  • PREPARATION OF WHITE OIL BY HYDROFINING LUBRICANT BASE

    Abstract ¡¡This paper mainly discusses the principal reactions of white oil hydrofining and introduces a two-stage hydrofining technology for producing white oil. The test results obtained by FRIPP, the operating parameters of the two-stage technology for white oil hydrofining and the feasibility for producing white oil and sulfonate by combination of sulfonating and hydrofining processes are also discussed.

  • DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY OF HIGH-GRADE PAVING ASPHALTS

    Abstract ¡¡Technology for prodicing high-grade paving asphalt, according with the new specifications of SINOPEC standards, has neen developed and commercialized. This technology includes vacuum distillation, semi-oxidation, solvent deasphalting and blending processes, and has been successfully used in production of high-grade paving asphalt using crude oils imported from Saudi Arabia, Kwait, Oman, Iran and domestic SZ36-1 crude oil from Bohai oilfield. According to the evaluation results of asphalt binder and aggregate, the paving performance of asphalts produced by this technology reaches the standards of imported high-grade asphalts. These asphalt products have been applied in highway construction in China.

  • DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY OF POLYMER MODIFIED ASPHALT

    Abstract ¡¡The modification effects and mechanism of various polymer modifiers are described. A method has been proposed for improving the storage stability of SBS modified asphalts. Addition of appropriate stabilizer can promote polymer to disperse steadily into asphalt base. By studying the production technology, a premixing-method for producing modified asphalts, has been developed and commercialized. The SBS and SBR polymer- modified asphalt products can meet the specifications issued by the Communication Ministry, and SHRP binder grading standards. The characteristics of asphalt products, such as performance at high- and low-temperature and anti-aging, can meet the requirements of domestic market for construction of express way.

  • DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF HYDRAULIC ASPHALT

    Abstract ¡¡The aim of this paper is to summarize the applications of asphalt concrete seepage-proofing technology in the hydro-engineering and hydraulic power engineering. Hydraulic asphalt, produced from imported crude oils and Bohai Suizhong 36-1 crude oil uing different methods, has good performance at both high-temperature and low-temperature and good aging resistance performance. The performance evaluation by using the blended asphalts showed that its bend resistance ability, aging resistance and water-proofing performance, infiltration resistance ability were quite well, suitable for concrete structure of the hydraulic asphalt. Bohai Suizhong 36-1 hydraulic asphalt has been used on the Three-Gorge hydraulic power-engineering project.
